Single parent family system, child headed family system and drug addiction among the people of Nansana

Abstract

The study examined between single parent family system, child headed family system and drug addiction in Nansana. The study was quantitative in nature with a correlational research design. A self-administered questionnaire was used to collect data, upholding the respondents free will to participate or withdraw from the study at any time and confidentiality. A total of 118 respondents participated comprising of 76 females and 42 males. The correlation study design was used to examine the relationship between the variables. The study results revealed that there is a significant relationship between single parent family system and child headed family system, there is a significant relationship between single parent family system and drug addiction and that there is a significant relationship between child headed family system and drug addiction. In addition, the study identified the following as areas of further study, the influence socio-economic status has on behavior in the single parent and child headed family system and the changes in the traditional social security of families.
