Child Abuse, Self-esteem and Depression among School Going Adolescents

Abstract

The study examined the relationship between Child abuse, self-esteem and depression among school going adolescents. The study was quantitative in nature with a correlational research design. Self-administered questionnaire with standardized research tools was used to collect data from a study population that comprised of both male and female between the ages 12 and 19 years. A total of 67 respondents from Makerere Modern Secondary School, Kampala District took part in the study. Then a correlation study design was used to determine the significances of the relationships between Child abuse, self-esteem and depression among school going adolescents. Data was analyzed using SPSS version 23. There was no significant relationship between child abuse and self-esteem, there was a significant relationship between child abuse and there was a significant relationship between self-esteem and depression among school going adolescents
