dc.description.abstract The purpose of this dissertation was to find out the diversity, distribution and abundance of avifauna in Entebbe botanical gardens. The study was conducted between February and March 2020, by dividing the area into four habitat types which included built up, shrub land, woodland and lakeside. Bird’s abundance and diversity were compared between habitat types and also related to habitat features. Point count method was used to collect data on bird diversity, abundance and distribution. Shannon-Wiener diversity index (H′) was used to determine species diversity and a high diversity was found in the area. A total of 11157 birds from 41 families were recorded and the results describe the gardens as a rich biodiversity and thus a good conservation and tourism area. en_US
