dc.description.abstract The purpose of this dissertation is to provide a study on how youth’s ideologies are affected by the different views of the various panelists on NBS’S Frontline political program. The researcher attempts to highlight the language use such as; arguments, debates, analogy, allusions, irony, comparisons, questioning, criticisms and its political impact on youth’s ideologies. This study has three objectives and first is to analyze the effectiveness of the language the different panelists use on the program. The researcher intends to present the type of language used and demonstrate how it portrays the panelist’s message to their audience (youths). Next is to examine how the panelists’ arguments on the show transform the ideologies of the youths. Youths ideologies are built on what they come to believe is true through what they hear from their circles of influence. The panelist’ arguments and discussions inspire specific attitudes and ideas in youth’s minds that eventually become ideologies. Lastly, to explore youths response towards the NBS’s Frontline program. The Frontline program is most popular among the youth. They feel informed, get to be exposed to intellectual yet entertaining political discussions concerning a country they look forward to serve themselves. As a result, they form slogans and choose political parties to belong. The information discussed triggers certain decisions among the youth including whom to vote into power during elections. Findings from this paper highlight the specific language used in different talk shows and what kind of ideologies are formed in the youth. This dissertation concludes with a recommendation for future research on how Television programs with open discussions such as NBS’s Frontline can build political ideologies among the youth. en_US
