dc.description.abstract The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between peer influence, substance abuse and academic performance among students of Makerere university. The study was conducted around Makerere university in Kampala district. A correlation study design and sample of 100 students participated in this study. Simple random sampling technique was used to select the respondents. Semi –structured questionnaires were main tools in data collection and data was analyzed using SPSS. Pearson’s correlation was used to determine relationship between the variables. Results indicated that there is a significant relationship between peer influence and Academic performance among students of Makerere university. However, results revealed that there was no significant relationship between substance abuse and academic performance as well as no significant relationship between substance abuse and peer influence among students of Makerere University. en_US
