Abstract

The lack of information about the current and constantly changing prices in the Agricultural business by farmers, both small and large scale traders especially those without connections to the right sources of information, creates a huge gap in future planning, major decision making and a chance for fraudsters to cheat uninformed farmers. Agricultural Produce Price Repository is a USSD application that works as an interface to collect and view data in the form of prices whereby a user can register and access the prices available for different foods, goods or products in relation to their nearest marketplace. The registered user also has an option of adding a price for a crop/product they are conversant with. The farmer will also be able to know which crops are selling by analyzing the trends in average prices. With this farmers are able to plan beforehand and make strategic decisions for their farms and future ventures and also be well prepared for market days. Analysts can also use our price trends data to analyze and make informed decisions to better the agricultural sector accordingly.
