dc.description.abstract This research critically analyses the existing legal framework governing image rights in Uganda, highlighting its heavy dependence on the right to privacy. It advocates for a distinct, dignitarian, and statute-based approach to the protection of image rights, tailored to address the unique challenges posed by Uganda’s technological landscape and the pervasive use of social media. With social media increasingly utilised for entertainment and employment purposes, the lack of a robust legal structure governing image rights is a pressing issue. By integrating insights from key interviews and comparative analyses, this research identifies gaps in the current framework and proposes comprehensive recommendations to safeguard image rights effectively. It underscores the urgency of establishing clearer legal protections that reflect the evolving societal and technological realities in Uganda. en_US
