| dc.description.abstract | Breast cancer gradually increases in Uganda and the possible hypothesis is that some cases are less likely to be recognised by the concerned medical professionals at an early stage due to misinterpretation of the breast cancer screening results, which contributes to the increase in the numbers of death rate in the country. According to the Statistics at the Kampala Cancer Institute, the breast cancer incidence increases annually by 3.7%. One of the solutions to the increase of Breast Cancer cases is to build computer aided systems that improve the accuracy of the concerned medical professionals during breast cancer screening. We have created a solution to this problem by developing the Breast Cancer Diagnosis System, which analyzes and classifies the provided mammograms (x-ray images of the breast) to provide a scientific basis for decisions and actions aimed at improving accuracy of breast cancer detection at an early stage during breast cancer screening. This document details the design, implementation and testing outcomes of the stripped-down version of the Breast Cancer Diagnosis System (BCDS). The developed system shall be used by the radiologists in Uganda to analyze the patient mammograms to provide a more accurate medical decision. The report begins with discussing the design of the BCDS, proceeding with the project implementation process and then the test outcomes. Appendix A provides the user manual of the system where as Appendix C provides any other relevant information to this project. Project URL: https://breastcancersystem.wordpress.com/ | en_US |
