| dc.description.abstract | Post-harvest losses due to Sitophilus oryzae, commonly known as rice weevils, pose significant challenges in grain storage and food security. This study evaluates the bio-pesticidal potential of Psorospermum febrifugum in managing these losses. Through a series of controlled experiments, the efficacy of Psorospermum febrifugum leaf and root powders was tested against rice weevils. The results indicate a significant effect on mortality rates, with the leaf powder showing the highest efficacy at 53.3±23.09% and the lowest LD50 value of 0.413, highlighting its potent pesticidal properties. Comparative analysis with other botanical pesticides, such as Azadirachta indica, confirms the superior effectiveness of Psorospermum febrifugum, making it a promising candidate for sustainable pest management. The study underscores the need for further research to standardize dosages, explore active compounds, and assess environmental impacts. These findings offer a viable, eco-friendly alternative to synthetic pesticides, contributing to improved grain preservation and food security.
