dc.description.abstract Very many adolescents are still thought to perform poorly in their academics and this has been thought to be caused by the different levels of socioeconomic status and the alternating self-esteem upon their lives. This research set out to examine the relationship between socioeconomic status, self-esteem and academic performance among adolescents. A correlational study design that is quantitative and descriptive was adopted to establish the relationship between the variables. A total of 100 respondents, both male and female participated in the study. Data collected was analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS), where Pearson Correlation Coefficient (r) was used to test the significance of the hypotheses. The study revealed that there was no significant relationship between socioeconomic status and academic performance; the study also revealed that there was no significant relationship between socioeconomic status and self-esteem. The study further showed that self-esteem and academic performance do have a significant relationship among the adolescents. I recommend that further research needs to be carried out on issues regarding adolescent self-esteem to enhance positive academic performance among adolescents both in private and public schools since the study has revealed that the problem is in existence en_US
