dc.description.abstract This project report contains information about design and construction of a water cooling unit for milling machines. There was need to address the sky rocketing temperatures and pollution of the coolant. The project was centered on the use of locally available materials to construct a heat exchanger that would improve the rate of cooling of the coolant and equally filter out foreign particles that actually wear out the pump blades causing the failure of the pump. The costs for repair and replacement of parts were quite high thus the need for this development. Much of the work revolved around the use of engineering knowledge to select system parameters for the heat exchanger, concept generation and material selection. All these were based on a customer centered approach after carrying out a sample customer survey. en_US
