dc.description.abstract This study covers the meaningful construction of personification in discourse aiming at analyzing various Ganda fables at a formalism ground in the identification of personification, the nature and ways of people as a crucial element of creating identity among people of various cultural backgrounds and their relevancy to the contemporary society drawing on examples from literary works, textbooks, other scholars’ articles and even websites. The definition, classification, linguistic structures and realization forms of personification are also discussed. Relatively detailed analyses of meaning construction of different personifications in discourse are provided by making use of different conceptual integration network models. Meaning construction of personification is a very complex process. Conceptual integration theory has very powerful explanatory forces for the meaning construction of personifications in discourse. The study focuses on how personification is used to bring out a deeper meaning of the selected fables. en_US
