dc.description.abstract The study was to access the role of non-governmental organizations in responding to landslide affected populations in Bududa district. The study objectives were to examine the emergency functions performed by NGOs upon the occurrence of landslides, to examine the role of NGOS in risk reduction of future landslides and to identify rehabilitative functions of NGOs in post-disaster stage. Data was collected from a sample of 30 respondents. The result revealed that NGOs performed tasks such as provision of medical aids, searching for missing persons, registration of the missing persons in according to their family line, temporarily resettlement as the major activities done during emergency functions. The study also found performed roles such as distribution of basic needs such as food, basins, plates etc. During risk reduction phase, the study revealed that NGOs had encourage the Bududa residence to practice good method of farming such afforestation, avoiding resettlement on sleep slopes. en_US
