dc.description.abstract Aim of study: To assess information and communications technology integration(ICT) in teaching and learning among Uganda physical education teachers towards an understanding of tools in use, challenges and potential solutions Methodology: This was a two-month online cross-sectional survey of active physical education teachers on professional social media platforms regarding used tools, challenges and potential solutions in integrating ICT in teaching and learning. A total of 100 conveniently responded to the online questionnaire between September and October of 2025. Results: Demographically, majority of the 100 respondents were male (77%), aged 25-35 (62%), 6-9 years of teaching experience (48%), from central region (43%) and in private owned school (51%). Smart phones (91%) were most integrated tools besides You-Tube (69%) and speakers (67%) compared to those in limited use including video analysis software (9%) and drone (2%). Limited alignment of ICT with PE pedagogy (80%), poor internet connectivity (80%) and lack of ICT prioritization in PE policy and standardized resources (77%) were the most pressing challenges at teacher, school and curriculum levels, respectively, besides other challenges. Regular hands-on teacher training workshops (79%), dedicated school budgets for PE-specific ICT resources (79%) and development of curriculum-based digital assessment rubric (79%) were suggested solutions to challenges at teacher, school and curriculum levels, respectively, besides other solutions. Conclusions: Understanding the most used tools, challenges and potential tools is important in improving PE teaching and learning environment. Smart phones were the most integrated ICT tool, multiple challenges of limited alignment of ICT with PE pedagogy, poor internet connectivity and lack of ICT prioritization in PE policy and standardized resources were the most pressing challenges with ensuring regular hands-on teacher training workshops, dedication of school budgets for PE-specific ICT resources and development of curriculum-based digital assessment rubric as the most suggested solutions at different levels. en_US
