| dc.description.abstract | Our project research involved looking at mission critical systems in organisations specifically the mission Critical Servers and how these servers can be monitored at all times in order to avoid flaws and failures that arise when these servers go down. Chapter 1 and 2 entail what these mission critical servers are, what they do, how they do it, of what benefit they are to an organisation and also the challenges that are associated with operating them. The SDLC was used at the methodology phase and it involved the iterative stages of; requirement identification and collection, planning, architecture design, developing, testing, deployment and maintenance. In the system analysis and design stage we explained the different requirements that is; software, hardware, functional and non-functional requirements that were crucial to the project success. We also showed how different data and processes were handled between the entities involved with the system. Data flow Diagrams, enhanced entity relationship diagrams, and data dictionary tables were very helpful. In implementation, we were able to achieve the main goal of our system whereby in the event of failure, the system is able to alert the respective users/administrator through sending an sms automatically when server goes down. | en_US |
