dc.description.abstract Urban farming in Walukuba/Masese Ward, Jinja City, plays a critical role in local food security and economic growth. Yet, only 25% of urban farmers in the region use ICT tools in their farming practices, according to Kwesiga and Ssekibuule (2020). The reasons for low ICT adoption among the remaining 75% are not documented. There are no studies to describe how effective the ICTs are in terms of accessibility, as well as the relevance and timeliness of the information provided. Understanding ICTs’ effectiveness would, therefore, help urban farmers to properly utilize them to boost agricultural production and use this information to try out new farming innovations. It can also guide the extension workers on which ICTs to recommend to the farmers. Therefore, there is a need to identify the barriers preventing ICT use and to assess how ICT impacts productivity, efficiency, and profitability. Additionally, there is a lack of documentation on farmers' awareness and training needs regarding ICT tools and support systems. This research aims to uncover the factors hindering ICT adoption in Walukuba/Masese Ward. It will explore awareness levels, barriers, impacts, and the effectiveness of existing policies, ultimately contributing to targeted interventions that could enhance productivity, sustainability, and the livelihoods of urban farmers. en_US
