Abstract
The current identification process in Uganda requires one to be identified by different entities all of which collect the same data about the individual. Producing an ID card each time you need to be served or authorized to access government services can be tedious. This also encourages redundancy whereby, entities under one umbrella collect the same data just because they were different entities. The current design of the systems in place also results in valuable data being compromised by attackers. The identity management systems that are imposed on the blockchain network have helped to some extent to solve these problems. The existing systems include uPort, shoCard, sorvin (which provide decentralized identity) and Ghana E-id, which offers services such as banking.
