Impact of parenting styles among adolescents on self-esteem and antisocial behavior

Abstract

The study was conducted among the students of Caltech Academy Located in Makerere Kikoni and the purpose was to find out whether there is no significant relationship between Parental style, self-esteem and anti-social behaviour among adolescents. However, the study used a sample of 100 students to participate in the study and standardized sets of questionnaires for each variable was used to collect data. PQA was used to measure Parental style, the Rosenberg’s (2005) self-esteem was used to measure self-esteem and Anti-social Behavior Questionnaire was used to measure anti-social behaviour. The hypothesis was tested using Pearson Correlation coefficiency using SPSS and the results revealed that there is a significant relationship between parenting styles, self-esteem and antisocial behaviours among adolescents. Recommendations and area for further research was made and references.
