dc.description.abstract | This is a descriptive research on globalization and how it has influenced dress code of the Ganda Culture during introduction ceremonies. The study describes the extent to which globalization has influenced the dress code of the Ganda culture during introduction ceremonies.
With this there has been a global influence that has been portrayed in the dress code of the Ganda during introduction ceremonies which has led to new fashion designs in the Gomesi, new attires such as Indian wear new fabrics and many more.
A survey of 35 respondents was carried out in Kyadondo county which is located in Kampala district. The methods of data collection used during the field research include observation which is to be accompanied with an observation guide, interviewing and photography to enable the researcher to collect as much information as possible. The findings of the researcher were that new fabric materials and accessories like jewelry, make up have been adopted by the people of the Ganda culture during introduction ceremonies and some of the fabric materials are lace fabric, sequined fabric, velvet, satin, stoned fabric and many more concluding that all the fabrics worn by the people participating in Ganda introduction ceremonies have an external influence. Despite the fact that the Ganda have been affected by the external influences in terms of dress code during introduction ceremonies, their dress code has retained its original form of the Kanzu and Gomesi. | en_US |
