dc.description.abstractThis special project was compiled after conducting research at Kitetika market on the |market structure of road side roasted meat sellers. The information attained in this report was collected mainly using questionnaires and direct interviews, primary data was mainly used. A total of 50 road side roasted meat sellers were interviewed using the questionnaires. The specific objectives were to characterize roadside roasted meat sellers, to determine the profitability of road side roasted meat sellers and to determine the factors that influence the volumes roasted meat sold at Kitetika Kumbuzi market. The results showed that the roasted meat sellers were characterized basing on the time spent in the business and also basing on the volumes handles i.e. handling small, medium and large volumes. The gross margin analysis indicated that road side roasted meat selling business is moderately profitable with an average gross margin of Ugshs 140683.8 on a daily basis though still low. The main factor that influences sales of roadside roasted meat is time period spent in the business. The study recommends that to improve on the sales, the roadside meat roasters and market leaders should come up with road side meat roasting associations, this can help in organizing of the market, and will also help meat roasters borrow money at low interests. The associations will also help meat roasters to come up with a common voice.en_US
