dc.description.abstractThis study entitled Tactors affecting students performance was carried out at Old Kampala Secondary School. The study was guided by three research objectives: lo examine the methods lecturers use in teaching art; to examine students attitude in studying fine art; and to find out the challenges that affect students performance. The study was cross sectional in nature and was carried out using a descriptive design to collect data from respondents and a total of 70 respondents; involving students and lecturers were taken for the study while applying simple random and purposive sampling techniques in selection. Data from both primary and secondary sources were collected using questionnaires, interviews and personal observation, and later analyzed and presented accordingly using both quantitative and qualitative formats. The study also surveyed the existing literature as obtained from Library text books, academic research reports, project research reports, Newspapers, Magazines, and other written sources. The study findings were summarized and analyzed qualitatively and presented, using quantitative and descriptive methods. The field research findings showed that, teaching of Art is affected by the absence of enough teaching aid for Fine Art subjects at school. The research revealed that absence of such teaching and learning aids negatively affects the learning and performance of Fine Art among students. The study concluded the lack and inadequacy of learning materials for Fine Art, and the absence of protective equipment and limited market for students art products negatively atfected their performance due to lack of motivation. The study recommended that Parents should work hand in hand with school administrators to provide the necessary requirements needed by art students. This Shall enhance performance of students in Fine Art at Old Kampala Secondary School.en_US
