The extent to which NTFPs contribute to household income is little known and not well documented. Therefore, this study was intended to fill this gap by generating information that may lead to the sustainable use of NTFPs. It has been argued that the importance of NTFPs to household income equals or surpasses; that of other products yet their worth and potential are rarely quantified; To document the different non-timber forest products local people obtain from Mabira forest, assess the contribution of non-timber forest products to the income of households, analyze the criteria followed by the people around Mabira while accessing the forest, asses the challenges faced by the locals while accessing the forest. Primary data was collected from the selected locals of Najjembe sub county around Mabira central forest reserve. In Secondary data review, Quantitative data will be descriptively analysed and ranked in Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) to generate frequency tables, percentages, and graphs to interpret the findings. The majority of the respondents (80.4%) were collecting NTFP, and of (71.7%) the respondents consented to selling the NTFP, (100%) of the respondents do not obtain permission before collecting NTFPs Depending on the results, The majority of the respondents were collecting a wide range of NTFPs such as wild meat, fruits, honey, firewood, sisal, herbs, rattan water and manure. The collected NTFPs were mostly used for food for household and sale for incomeen_US
