dc.description.abstractThe performance at the (MTSIFA) was observed to have declined between the years 2018 &2019 despite the changes in the style of teaching, Painting being among the pioneer and most Popular courses offered at (MTSIFA), this prompted the researcher to investigate the reasons Behind this occurrance. The purpose of the research became to find out the general factors that Influenced the professional performance of students in both the oil and water color course were Put into consideration. The researcher was guided by the following objectives; To analyze the general trend in the performance of the student in tee painting course at MTSIFA To determine the cause of the decline in the students’ performance in the painting course To find out the possible solutions to the causes of the decline in the students’ performance in the Painting course. The area of study is MTSIFA. The research design involved qualitative and quantitative Methods, whereby the researcher applied questioner, observation and file reading resulting into Results obtained by triangulation. The population where students. A sample of respondents both Current (2018-2019) and former painting students at MTSIFA. The results yielded From the search indicated the decline was generally attributed to the attitude of the current lot of Students as compared to the previous lots. Financial constraints and various administrative Factors were also a great concern. The researcher went on to suggest reasonable solutions to the Causes which included developing positive attitude towards the painting course, provision of Materials from the administration, revision of course combination from the administration, Students were advised to create more time to practice outside the usual course work among Others. Therefore the fact that such factors are affecting students in the painting courses they may Also be faced in other courses offered at MTSIFA and so one can do a study from other Disciplines like design fashion drawing among others.en_US
