Marketing plan for Mbarara University of Science and Technology
Abstract
This study was carried out with a main aim of developing a marketing plan that would keep users updated on new development in the library of must. the objectives were to To find out types of information services provided at MUST library, to investigate on how marketing of information services is done at MUST library, to examine the challenges faced while marketing of information services at MUST library, to develop a marketing plan for MUST library, and the research questions were to find out what types of information sources are provided at MUST library, how is marketing of information resources done at MUST library,
What are the challenges faced while marketing of information sources and products at MUST library, What are the key requirements to be included in the marketing plan for MUST library. Respondents included 10 librarians and 20 students, these respondents were selected using purposive and simple random sampling techniques and the researcher used interviews,
questionnaires and observation guide as methods for collecting data. From the findings, it was established that students use the library to access information from textbooks mostly, periodicals, and journals, findings also indicated that librarians use facebook mostly for marketing of library services. The findings revealed that developing a marketing plan for must library is essential because the users and librarians will be informed well of upcoming new events.The study recommends that the library should have a marketing plan which will enable users be updated about new developments using face book, user orientation services especially for new members
