Abstract
The project purpose was to design a website for Bombo Army Secondary School. The project objectives were to: To find out current communication channels the school uses to provide information, to identify the challenges, the school faces when using the current awareness methods to disseminate information, to determine the information needed in the school website and to design and develop a website for BASS.
The study focused on a population of 1000 respondents from which a sample size of 30 respondents was selected using a simple random sampling technique. The study adopted a qualitative research design in incorporation with the interview and questionnaire methods to collect data from respondents.
The study found out that the dominant communication channel at Bombo Army Secondary School was visiting the library; the means of access to information was through the manual procedural process that involved putting notices on the notice board, the main information to be put on the website were motto and mission, fees structure. The users agreed with the design of the website to streamline information access at Bombo Army Secondary School.
The Study recommended that the management of BASS should adopt the proposed website because it does not require a lot of money to design and develop. Other recommendations include: sensitization of users, training of users on managing the website and allocating enough funds to the website of the school. The study also recommended that other communication channels should be thought of to reduce over reliance on visiting the library and putting notices on the notice boards.
