    Abstract
The study was carried out in Makindye division at Brass For Africa, a registered non-profit organization that works towards building band music in Nsambya community. The aim of the study was to provide an information storage and retrieval system for the music collection at BFA. The objectives of the study were, To identify the various categories of music and information materials in BFA, To establish factors impeding the management of information storage and retrieval and establish a system for information storage and retrieval of the music collection, to make a comprehensive record of audio/video content contained by BFA, to establish a system for information storage and retrieval of the music collection. In-order to achieve the research objectives, an in-depth literature study was undertaken, observations were made on the current information storage and retrieval status in the music collection and the data was collected by administering questionnaires to respondents, document survey and observation. The study revealed that information storage and retrieval was not receiving much attention. Recommendations were drawn. An information storage and retrieval system was designed to help the staff and users to effectively use the information they needed for a longer period. The research established that, much is still needed to be done in ensuring a well secured music institution to provide the future generation with an opportunity to share the same knowledge.
