dc.description.abstractThis research was conducted with the main goal to investigate the possibility of using industrial and fine arts to highlight the problem of waste glass disposal in Nakasero trading area located in Central Division, Kampala, Uganda , it was based on the following objectives, to find out the historical background on glass waste disposal in Nakasero trading area, To evaluate the various methods of glass disposal used to day, To investigate how industrial and fine arts can be used as an attempt to address the problem of waste glass disposal in Nakasero trading area. The quantities of waste glass in Nakasero have been increasing significantly without being recycled increasing the risk to public health and the environment due to the scarcity of land area. This growing problem of waste glass in Nakasero can be alleviated if new disposal options other than landfill can be found. The purpose of the study was to find out how industrial and fine arts can be used to properly dispose waste glass in Nakasero trading area. The study discussed the review of related literature that related to the study area. It was based on the research objectives and research questions. The research methodology employed in the study was cross sectional research design; it adopted both quantitative and qualitative data. This is because it enabled the researcher to obtain diverse information from the subject under investigation. The study population was selected using random and purposive sampling, data was collected using both questionnaires, document reviews and interviews and was analyzed using excel program to compute calculations. The research also was presented using tables and findings that were discussed basing on the study findings obtained from the field. The research also found out that good waste glass management is very vital for good public health and the environment inclusive of the trading area and the research showed some innovations from industrial and fine arts to be done for betterment of the trading area. This study also revealed that while using industrial and fine arts, waste glass regains its value and earn money to the glass traders. Therefore, Nakasero trading area authorities should regularly implement policies, goals and objectives to traders on how to reduce on waste glass. That is, communication and awareness should be done to inform the traders on how to recycle glass using industrial and fine arts.en_US
