Employee motivation, workplace behaviors and employee job performance among employees in Ugandan health sector: a case study of Kawempe Referral Hospital

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between variables of employee motivation, workplace behavior and job performance among employees in Ugandan Health Sector of Kawempe Referral Hospital. The study sought to examine the hypotheses below; the relationship between employee motivation and workplace behavior, the influence of workplace behavior and job performance and the influence of employee motivation and job performance. The objectives of the study were to examine whether employee motivation and workplace behaviors are significantly related, to examine whether workplace behaviors and job performance are significantly related and to examine whether employee motivation and job performance are significantly related. The study was conducted using a cross sectional study among respondents both male and female using a questionnaire with questions and statements that measure employee motivation, workplace behavior and job performance among employees Health care workers in Kawempe Referral Hospital. There was a significant relationship between employee motivation and workplace behavior, between workplace behavior and job performance and between employee motivation and job performance according to the results obtained. theit was recommended that organizational policies, practices and procedures that are aimed at increasing motivation of employees such as performance appraisal, transport allowance autonomy etc. should be enforced and strengthened as well as the already existing measures on motivation of the health workers and policies should be drafted by health care association in conjunction with government ministry of health on motivating the health staff. it was suggested that future research should be conducted to assess the relationship between the study variables and their impact on gender in order to identify gender based mechanisms on how best to deal with workplace behavior.
