dc.description.abstractThe research was conducted to find out how compliant are the fuel stations in Mukono district to Environmental impact assessment set conditions approval. Also to find the challenges do Natural resources officers, environmental officers, Environmental Inspectors, Environmental auditors face in ensuring post certification compliance to EIA by fuel stations in Mukono district, and suggested strategies to overcome these challenges. Certificates of approval in the Mukono district environmental office was used by the researcher to develop a check list that was used to check the compliance to EIA set conditions of approval by different fuel stations ,the fuel station checked was chosen at random with in Mukono district. The senior environmental officer and The natural resource Officer at Mukono district and Environmental officer at Mukono municipality, Environmental inspectors at NEMA were interviewed to find out the challenges they face in monitoring fuel stations compliance to EIA set conditions of approval, strategies to overcome these challenges were suggested by the .Thirty fuel stations were sampled with the check list that was developed from EIA conditions of approval for petrol stations. Many challenges are faced by both the environmental officers, Natural resources officer at districts and municipalities; Environmental inspectors of NEMA and petroleum board, many strategies were suggested that would solve the mentioned challenges.en_US
