dc.description.abstractThe overall summary of this research is presented in this page. This is an academic study on a topic; Artistic contribution on Bow-harp development for culture preservation and modern use. The was conducted particularly in Kampala, Nabbi, Pakwach and Arua Districts To find out whether Bow – harp if Bow-harp still exists and is being used in this twenty first century as the case of eighteenth and nineteenth century and its significance to the users, improvements made on Bow – harp in past decades of years and if so, what are these changes and how such improvement have affected harp and its usage, what raw materials that have been used to make Bow – harp and even to sort out the locally available materials to improve on the state /condition of the Bow harp such that it‟s more appealing to both young and old age groups. Secondly to find out how Bow – harp (Adungu) can be used to preserves culture and how it can be used in modern world effectively without limitation in connection with other contemporary musical instruments like; key-boards and guitars and so on. To find out challenges associated with the instrument and device means of addressing them. The study found that Bow-harp is one of the traditional instruments that has lived since the 15,000 BC till date. It‟s an instrument of power, used as a therapy to smoothen and heal one‟s disturbed emotions as well as a channel to connect believer to their God. Socially, its used for entertainment, behavior change and to unite people together. Economically, it brings income to those who make and play them as well as income to the country tax payment either direct or indirect. Approaches like observation, interview and questioner among others were used in the process of data collection with the help of tools like; camera, laptop, phones, stationary among others. During this study, the researcher faced challenges like; long distance travel, lack of enough money for the study, language barrier, rigidity of respondents, bad whether among others. However, the study was successfully carried out and this base line survey data shall be used to compile the final report and design a Bow-harp that can be used to revive and preserve cultures and be used with the modern contemporary instruments without limitations.en_US
