dc.description.abstractRecords in any organization have a basic and crucial. Recorded information requires effective and efficient record storage and security to ensure ease of access and retrieval and management of records. At the WZLO is majorly characterized by poor records storage and security. The aim of the study was to evaluate record storage & security at the WZLO and to suggest ways in which their practices can be enhanced. The objective of this study was to find out the current stage of storage and security of lands records in the Wakiso zonal land office, to find out the procedures, laws, and policies used in storage & security from the Wakiso Zonal lands office, and to make suggestions for the best practices for storage & security of land records. The study adopted a qualitative research approach to assess the storage and security of land records. The study population was 43 with a sample size of 32 involving records staff, HODs, Secretaries and Administrative Assistants. The study used a probability sample methind in which a purposive sampling technique was used to categorize the respondents. Data was collected through qualitative and observation. A pilot study was conducted to pre-test validity and reality of the data collection instrument using pre-test check list. The findings of the study were that Wakiso zonal land office had been working to streamline records and security to avert unauthorised access, unnecessary loss of records, misuse, and inadequate security measures which is challenging personnel in charge of records at the WZLO, and may lead to a possible violation of privacy and confidentiality of individual records among others. The study recommended that WZLO should develop an operational framework for effective and efficient storage and security of land records to formulate institutional policy guidelines and regulations for records management and provide basic record management skills for tethe staff.en_US
