Turkey farming is a branch of agriculture which deals with raising, breeding and caring for turkeys either on a small scale or large scale and a survey was conducted to finding out the determinants for the uptake of turkey farming. In Uganda, there is an increase in the total human population and has a direct impact on the increased protein demand and also there is no documentation about turkeys. A study was carried out to establish the determinants of the uptake of turkey farming in Muwanga Sub County. The study investigated the people’s attitudes towards turkey farming, effect of people’s knowledge on turkey nutrition and effect of the price of chicken products on the demand of turkey products. A cross sectional survey with the help of a questionnaire as a data collection tool from 150 farmers was used. And chi-square (x2) was used to evaluate the association between the uptake of turkey farming and determinants of turkey farming. The result obtained revealed, determinants had p-values less than 0.05 (P<0.05) hence statistically significant. The concluded that people’s attitudes, their knowledge on nutrition, and the price of chicken products had an effect on the uptake of turkey farming. The recommendation was more research and documentation should be done in turkeys in order to avail information to the farmers.en_US
