Hospital environments are occupied with bacteria and other microbes which infect staff working within the facilities and patients who are often more susceptible to the infections due to their illnesses. This is a serious cause of concern giving an increasing rate of nosocomial infections in the health facilities. As a measure to reduce and overcome this challenge of nosocomial infections, different commercial antiseptics are being used in the different health facilities and these antiseptics are made available on market. In this research, different antiseptics available commercially were tested for their effectiveness on one of the most common bacteria, E. coli. The results revealed that some were indeed effective and others had little to no effect on the bacteria hence recommended that all the commercially available antiseptics be reviewed before put out on market.en_US
