Post-harvest losses and market performance among cocoa farmers in Uganda. a case study of Bundibugyo District

Abstract

Part of the most important goal and ambition for developing regions and countries in East Africa and parts of the world is encouraging the connection and the empathy for the sustenance of security and Economic growth and development. Cypher, J. (2014). My work will be based on coming out with what are the post-harvest handling processes of cocoa in Bundibugyo district and more research will be done to show how to increase the productivity of cocoa to increase its productivity and help in improving the livelihood of cocoa farmers in Uganda as well as all the citizens. Post-harvest losses are the primary problems in the production process as well as in the marketing chain. Negi, S., &Anand, N. (2016). Post-harvest losses have immediate impact on the quality of cocoa as they lead to quality deterioration which directly affects farmers’ earnings which reduces the farmers’ income as well as the livelihood of people. Neilson∗, J. (2007). This makes post-harvest losses the major area of concern and has to be looked at. A post-harvest system will imply a lot of operations and functions from the point of production to the point of consumption of the agriculture product. Farm products must pass through the post-harvest system to reach the final consumer.
