dc.description.abstractWastewater that is discharged into water bodies and swamps are the major source of environmental pollution. Due to the increasing number of people in cities, a lot of waste is generated that need to be handled well in order to ensure clean and safe environment. Drinking water treatment plants are responsible for providing high quality drinking water to consumers. High quality drinking water refers to esthetically appealing water that is free of both pathogens (disease causing organisms) and chemical contaminants that have been known to cause undesirable health effects .The study aimed at Evaluation of the quality of the treatment exiting the newly refurbished Bugolobi waste water treatment plant into the wetlands of Kampala. Monitoring and control are indispensable actions for ensuring the production of high quality drinking water. The study employed reconnaissance, interview, and effluent sampling methods to obtain the relevant data that was needed. Four strategically located points from the treatment plant were chosen the inlet (I), the primary sedimentation tank (P), the bio filters (B), the secondary sedimentation tank (S). Both the liquid effluent before discharge (SW) and the solids that settle off in the tank (Ss) were collected and analysed.The laboratory results on different parameters were entered in an Excel spreadsheet and the data subjected to analysis using the GenStat 14th Edition Statistical software and significant component means of Variance, standard error. The study found out that physco-chemical and biological characteristics of miunicipal waste water from the treatment stage at bugoolobi before refubrishment march (2014) by Ndawula isaac , there was a decline in the values of the effluent from 2014 results and 2022, this is attributed to the improved new plant in that the chemical properties of effluent can be sediment and treated with minimal interference or since that increases efficiency of the machines hence the findings, Although some of the parameters investigated in this study at Bugolobi Waste water treatment plant complied with the benchmark values, the water is polluted bacteria especially fecal matter with potential risk of waterborne diseases to the users of this resource, total suspended solids, nitrogen and phosphorous that cause environmental pollution and eutrophication. The sulphate were also high hence posing a high risk to animals and people incase consumed before further treatment. The high nutrient at discharge point will lead to water viii pollution in the reservoirs like swamp area and Lake Victoria where it is discharged hence affecting every one’s health. Therefore this should be everyone’s responsible to expose off wastes in the right way if we are to end water pollution. The water discharged from the treatment plant is not fit for drinking by humans and animals before further treatment is done since it’s polluted with nutrients.en_US
