dc.description.abstractPrice fluctuations affects all commodities and coffee is one of these commodities. All respondents were familiar with price fluctuations and majority were affected by it however farmers in Bulera Sub County have practiced several practices to mitigate the problem. Questionnaires were used to collect primary data and other literatures related to this sturdy were also reviewed for secondary data. Regression was run to estimate the determinants of coffee price, price was the dependent variable and gender, distance from the major road, land accessed, money spent on weeding and others were the independent variables .The sturdy focused on farmers perceptions of coffee price fluctuations in Bulera sub county Mityana District Uganda. The objective of the sturdy was to analyze farmer perception of coffee price fluctuation among farmers in Bulera sub-county Mityana district. The specific objectives were to determine how farmers are challenged by changes in coffee prices, to find out practices adopted by farmers to mitigate the effects of changing coffee prices, to estimate the factors that that influence the price received by coffee farmers Bulera sub-county Mityana district. Therefore a cross sectional survey was done to collect quantitative and qualitative data, SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Scientists) version 16.0 statistical package was used to analyze the collected data. The sturdy revealed that poor post harvesting methods was the major challenge at production stage, limited market and long distance to the market place was the major challenge at marketing stage, most farmers mitigate the problem of price fluctuation by practicing hoarding and also engage in other income generating activities, distance from the major road and money spent on weeding significantly affected the prices received by coffee farmers in Bulera sub county Mityana District. Government should set a minimum fair price for coffee, establish agricultural banks for farmers, farmers should also ensure good harvesting and post-harvest handling methods and many others in order to mitigate price fluctuation.en_US
