The increase in antimicrobial use comes with a drawback of increasing antimicrobial resistance which puts both the human population and the commercial poultry production at a risk. The most feasible solution to this antimicrobial resistance problem is ensuring sufficient knowledge, attitude and practice on the use of antimicrobials by commercial poultry farmers across the entire country. Therefore, this research was done to know the different types of antimicrobials used by poultry farmers, to know what determines the use of a particular antimicrobial and to find out how knowledgeable the poultry farmers are about antimicrobial resistance in Kyampiisi sub-county, Mukono district. Across sectional study was carried out in which questionnaires were administered to 377 farmers, data collected, analyzed and presented inform of tables and graphs. Out of the 377 poultry farmers, 81.6% were female and 18.4% male, Most of the farmers use (84%) Tetracyclines, 9% Enroflaxacin, 6.4% Doxycycline, 0.3% Neomycine and 0.3% Keproceryl. When asked who recommended them antimicrobials 46.8% said veterinarians, 35.9% drug shopkeepers, 5.9% Veterinary paraprofessional, 7.2% self and 4.3% other farmers. There is a good level of knowledge and practice on antimicrobial use and resistance among poultry farmers in Kyampiisi sub-county Mukono district but there is still need to conduct further research in other areas to know the different antimicrobials used by poultry farmers and why Tetracyclines are the most used antimicrobials.en_US
