A descriptive study on how people are recycling plastic waste to make crafts in Kampala
Abstract
Craft making through plastic recycling is a bigger challenge to most people around Kampala; this is because most people lack skills and knowledge about art recycling and not necessarily from plastics but also re-usable waste.
The main reason for the research intended to investigate on “how people are recycling plastic waste to make crafts in Kampala” under the following objectives; to find out people’s attitude towards art recycling in Banda and other places around Kampala, challenges faced by the artists doing art recycling for conservation in places around Kampala
In this study, 55 respondents were chosen where 20 of them were males, 35 were females and the study methods used were both primary and secondary. With the research findings, it was found out that most of the findings were obtained from the workers in the area of study who had creativity skills and had a desire to explore more.
It was further investigated and found out that the people need more support from the government to raise funds to use to acquire to use in recycling, they should as well find out how they can enlarge their recycling organizations to have a large capacity and they can train people with less skills of creativity in order to have more products on market since it’s a source of employment to some people.
