| dc.description.abstract | The study was about the role of polytechnical colleges in the teaching and learning of Industrial and Fine Art (YMCA) in Uganda. It was guided my the following objectives;
To find out how the courses offered at YMCA meets the needs of the society.
To find out problems faced by polytechnical colleges in the teaching and learning of Industrial and Fine Art.
To find out the way to improve on the standards of teaching and learning at YMCA
To find out the possible solution to the problems encountering the role of polytchicals colleges.
On data collection methods, different methodology where applied for example recording, sampling, interviewing, questionnaires and other techniques such as primary and secondary sources of data for example following methods we used differently and that is to say:-
Recording, it was used to note down every information that was in the field.
Sampling, this on helped in finding different views in relation to my topic inthe field.
Interviewing, this helped me in the discussion between the interview and respondent..
Questionnaire, it helped in the process of collecting data for those who had no skills of responding orally therefore questions helped.
Other tools and materials were also used like phones to capture images, pens to write down and books to keep records.
It was found out that;
Improvement on the quality of the art works produced this is due to new skills.
There has been recycling of plastics which were dumped hence maintaining sanitation.
It has generated employment opportunities to the graduates who have acquired the skills.
Inadequate time allocated to the course works given to students by the lecturers.
Inadequate money to purchase some of the materials to be used by the students in the process of doing art course works.
It was concluded that; the teaching and learning of industrial and Fine Art Ugandan has contributed a lot the development of Art in Uganda however much YMCA and other branches in Ugandan have encountered my effects which are economic, social, technological and religion.
It was recommended that; the YMCA staff and the management board, the government of Uganda, the ministry of education and sports and the student board at large to come together and work hand in hand to solve the problems affecting industrial and fine Art which include; shortage of materials, limited time and explanation to students, inadequate money and the government should allocated special money to cater for the missing materials in polytechnical colleges.
