Abstract
Visual communication is the practice of using visual elements to convey a
message, inspire change or evoke emotion. It is traced back to cave paintings of
the early man, these were basically used to preserve information.
Visual communication became even more influential in the 15th to 16th century
with the invention of the printing press. It is a part of nearly every sector and is
relevant to politics, business, religion, entertainment and so on.
Visual communication is a big part of the business sector. Examples include signs,
typography, drawing, graphic design, illustration, industrial design, advertising,
animation and others. Visuals inform, inspire and also persuade the target
audience.
Today they are quite a number of platforms can be used for visual
communication. Visual communication is put up in form of flyers, brochures,
magazines, posters, TV advertisements, billboards, pull ups, short videos for social
media and so many more.
With the many platforms used today the producer’s outreach to his or her
audience will just be limited by his or her budget as videos may cost more than
print. This calls for one as a business person to keep within their budget as they
may get overwhelmed in the long run.
