Over the years, social media has greatly become part of our day to day lives and so has influenced many sectors including political, economic , social and educational sectors. Social media is known to influence the educational sector positively and negatively. The main aim of the study was to investigate the influence of social media towards the teaching and learning of jewellery courses at the Margaret Trowell School of Industrial and Fine Arts. It was meant to examine the role social media platforms playing the teaching and learning of jewellery courses. The literature sources give a general review of social media influencing academics but not particularly teaching and learning of jewellery courses. Interview method amongst others was used to achieve the main objective of the study. The study revealed that the students use social media as a learning tool which in some cases serves as a source of inspiration and motivation for them to do their work. On the other hand, it also exposed that some students sometimes become redundant and fail to become creative but execute the same tasks similar to those that have been displayed on the different social media platforms.en_US
