Drawing inspiration from a Belinda's Dream Rose flower to design a garment for casual wear
Abstract
This research involved drawing inspiration from a Belinda’s Dream Rose flower to design a
garment for casual wear. The objectives of the study were; to draw inspiration from a Belinda’s
Dream Rose flower to make a casual wear, to design a garment for casual wear and to examine the
relevance of drawing inspiration during garment designing for casual wear.
Secondly, to suggest possible solutions to improve casual wear in regard with drawing inspiration
so as to design a garment for casual wear.
The researcher found that its very effective to always draw inspiration before designing a garment
for casual wear due to its efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness. It further provides a variety thus
widening the designer’s taste, gives room for correction and enables the designer to express
themselves.
With garment designing, the researcher found out that it’s associated with short comings such as;
lack of originality in designs, costs of raw materials, limited inspiration due to the client’s taste,
competition with other designers and lack of machinery to decorate fabrics.
The researcher has raised numerous recommendations to enhance the benefits of drawing
inspiration during garment designing which include, creating mood boards, inspiration boards,
creating development stages, presentation stages and brand marketing.
