dc.description.abstractFish farming is growing at a faster rate, with an increased number of aquaculture farms in the country which calls for increased pressure of small pelagic fish used as fish meal in fish and animal feeds yet capture fisheries keeps on declining each coming day due to increased fishing pressure and climate change. With a lot of vast poultry by products that are disposed without any good use, this compiled me to look at the cost of converting poultry by-products into protein-rich concentrates at Ugachick poultry breeders limited(UPBL) located in Magigye-Wakiso district to avail farmers with an alternative cheap source of proteins for their animals Poultry by products (hatchery-rejected eggs(EG), one-day-old cocks(CK) and chicken offal (OF) were weighed while still fresh, then boiled in the autoclave for 5-30m and then left to cool as well drip loss on a perforated platform. they were later dried in charcoal drier then milled to powder for analysis. Hatchery rejected eggs indicated the highest cost followed by CK and OF. Chick powder had the high protein concentrate of 67.7%, followed by offal powder with 47.3% and lastly egg powder with 47%. Egg powder had the highest fat hydrolysis of 28.8%, as well with the highest ash content of 21.7%. OF had the least cost of conversation but chicks had the lowest cost of protein as a nutrient. Therefore, one-day-old chicks are cost effective in both energy and nutritional values.en_US
