A project report submitted to the East African School of Library and Information Science in partial fulfillment of the requirement for the award of a Bachelor's Degree in Library and Information Science of Makerere Universityen_US
The report considers the current situation of agricultural produce needs and how NaCRRI has tried to improve the deficiency. Basing on the study of many Agricultural scholars, a lot of crop technologies have been developed to counteract the issues faced in the growing and production of different food stuffs. This project intended to consolidate information about the crop technologies developed at NaCRRI since 2018 into a compendium. It was specifically intended to profile crop generated technologies, assess the challenges faced at NaCRRI while developing the various crop technologies, devise solutions to these challenges and finally develop a compendium for increased visibility and adoption. With this, Maize, Beans, Rice, Soy Beans, Sweet potatoes, cassava and bananas where handpicked as cases for their ability to feed the populations and generate revenue for farmers. The study was predominantly qualitative and utilized the interview, observation and the photography to collect the data. Field findings indicate that NaCRRI runs four programs, the Legume program having beans and Soybeans, the root crop program which consists of cassava and sweet potatoes, the cereals programs having rice and maize. The Banana Program mainly concentrated in Kawanda baring the banana crop research. The report enumerates the different varieties from each crop technologies, the agronomic practices their physiological appearance, the pests and diseases that affect these crop technologies. Finally, the project suggests that more information about the crop technologies should be released to the local farmers by the information dissemination section of NaCRRI and NARO at large to achieve a more effective information visibility and adoption.en_US
