dc.description.abstractUganda through the Agriculture Sector Strategic Plan made fruits and vegetables a priority crop to be promoted with an aim to improve the economic lives of Ugandans engaged in agriculture. As a result, chilli a non-traditional export crop in Uganda is becoming an important cash crop to the farmers. This study is set to analyse the profitability of chilli among the smallholder farmers in Ngogwe Sub County, Buikwe district. The study will adopt a cross-sectional survey for data collection. The target has targeted a total 55 respondents including 45 farmers, Sub County and district officials and chilli traders. These respondents will be sampled using purposive and snowball techniques. The study will employ questionnaires, interview guides and observation check list as instruments to collect data. The collected data will be analyzed using; descriptive statistics for characterization of the farmers, gross margin analysis to obtain profitability and multiple regression to analyze factors affecting profitability. Qualitative data will be analyzed thematically.en_US
