A report submitted to the Department of Biochemistry and Sports Science in partial fulfillment of the requirement for the Award of Bachelor of Science Degree in Biological Sciences.en_US
This study aimed at testing the safety of foods and beverages sold at the University kiosks. Different samples of snacks and common drinks were tested for the presence of Salmonella typhi. Of the samples tested, the passion fruit juice picked from one of the kiosks was found to have colonies of S. typhi. The other samples tested negative and not contaminated with S. typhi. Only one passion fruit juice from one out of the 6 Kiosks was found to be contaminated with S. typhi. This implies that typhoid related diseases may not necessarily be blamed on the contamination of foods and beverages sold at University Kiosks.en_US
