dc.description.abstractThis study assesses the factors that determine the adoption of the hermetic PICS bags among maize farmers in Kiryandongo district. A sample of 60 respondents were randomly sampled. Data was collected using structured questionnaires. The objectives of the study were; to determine the rate of adoption of the PICS bags among maize farmers, to determine the socio-economic factors that determine the adoption of the pics bag technology among maize farmers in Kiryandongo district. Data for the study was generated using the statistics and data software (STATA). Data analysis was done using the logit model and descriptive statistics. Results indicate that 63.33% of the farmers used the bags and the mean bags used were 2.31667. Access to credit, perception about the price, farmers awareness about the PICS bags, distance to output market, distance to paved road and the distance to the input market had a significant influence of farmers decisions to adopt the PICS bags.en_US
