dc.description.abstractThis research was aimed to find of the nutritional status of eight mango varieties grown on the ferralsol soil of Kabanyolo. The study was done using Apple, Alphonso, Zilet, Kekule, and Boribo, Kent; Bire, and Tommy varieties. Foliar samples were picked from each variety and analyzed for macro nutrient content. Soil samples were also picked from the field and analyze in triplicates for the chemical properties of the soil pH, OC, N, P, K and sodium. The results showed significant difference between the plots in the field and no significant difference in the plant leaf macro nutrients. The macro nutrient content of the soil and organic matter were below the critical levels required by the soil for high productivity. Showing the macro nutrient deficiency in the soil, therefore the mango field will require fertilization to supply the mango plants. The nutritional status of the foliar showed that the macro nutrient contents were above the critical limits. However, the mangoes will still require fertilization to maintain changes that may result due to changes in soil conditions or climate since mango is a perennial crop.
