Inadequacy of photography materials and students’ performance in photography at Margret Trowel
Abstract
Photography materials and equipment at Margret Trowel School of Industrial and Fine Art seem not to be adequately provided to the students and some that are individually purchased. Due to this, the students use mainly school provided cameras which are outdated and less in number while executing their works as well as during practical. Besides this, the students have not been fully exposed to the various materials and tools in photography thus leading to poor academic performance of MTSIFA Students taking photography as an elective. Therefore, there was need to find out the possible solutions to the above problem. The purpose of the study was to assess the inadequacy of photography materials and students’ knowledge about the use of appropriate Photography equipment at Margret Trowel School of Industrial and Fine Art at Makerere University. This research was guided by the following objectives; 1. To find out if the photography materials and equipment provided to students are adequate. 2. to assess if the photography materials that are used by students are the right ones. 3. To identify the possible solutions on how to improve students’ photography skills and performance.
