dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this study was to understand the perceived factors that implicitly and explicitly influence the adoption of improved cook stoves in secondary schools in Uganda .The study was guided by the following objective 1.To assess the awareness and knowledge about improved cook stoves by the students and staff members in Secondary schools in Uganda,2.To evaluate the performance of improved cook stoves in comparison to traditional cook stoves 3.To identify barriers to adoption of improved cook stoves in secondary schools in Uganda .Using Random selection,2 schools were selected, there were 61 respondents 30 from a private school and 31 from a government school. Qualitative data were coded organised and analysed. The data were analysed using descriptive statistics including percentages and also presented in bar –graphs, pie-charts, and tables. Analysis of the data revealed that the schools visited had adopted the use of improved cook stoves. The study recommended that comprehensive approach involving collaboration among Government, NGOs and local communities to boost the adoption of the stoves through donating improved cook stoves to schoolsen_US
